California Natural Resources Secretary Wade Crowfoot contributed this statement at the first part of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity’s 15th Conference of Parties (COP15 part 1)! This event was a direct result of dozens of California nonprofits coming together to ask California to lead on the global stage — a campaign spearheaded by PAJE.
California has the potential to become a bold leader for biodiversity action around the world — which can in turn reinforce and increase action in our state.
COP 15 part 1 took place in China, with many parties and observers submitting video statements. Part 2 will take place in China in spring/summer 2022 — we hope to see California represented in person!
