The California Global Biodiversity Alliance (CalGBA) was co-founded by and is co-led by Rosalind Helfand. This large multi-stakeholder California and US-wide alliance activates collective action by building coalitions and promoting collaboration among local, state, national, Tribal and global biodiversity leaders in California, the United States, and around the world in order to overcome critical biodiversity and climate change challenges. In California and across the US, CalGBA partners for mainstreaming and integration of biodiversity objectives in policies and planning at all levels of decision making and governance. CalGBA collaborates with Californians, global NGOs and subnational governments to engage with the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the baseline for a rights-based approach for healthy people and planet. CalGBA Steering Committee member Point Blue Conservation Science has taken the lead on an initiative with California-based CalGBA members for them to log their work in a statewide StoryMap showcasing how the work aligns with the Global Biodiversity Framework’s 23 Targets.
